NO. 3 MIDDLEBURY SHUTS DOWN BATES, 17-1

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Middlebury College Panthers (7-1), ranked third in the nation in the most recent IWLCA Division III poll, used a stifling defense to defeat the host Bates College Bobcats (2-4) here today.

The Panthers were led by six goals from rookie midfielder Char Glesner (Ipswich, Mass.). Bates' lone tally came from junior Jen Sall (Gladwyne, Pa.).
