Bates 20, Babson 10 BATES WOMEN'S LAX DOUBLES BABSON IN HOME FINALE, 20-10 LEWISTON, Maine - The Bates College women's lacrosse team (4-6) won for the second day in a row, defeating the visiting Babson College Beavers (6-9) , 20-10, on Lafayette Street Field today. Bates jumped out to a 6-1 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first half and never looked back. The Bobcats were led by Blaine Hudson (Madison, Conn.), who matched her season high with six points. The team's lone senior, Hudson recorded three goals and three assists in her final regular season home contest. She was one of 10 Bates players to score a goal, and one of four to notch a hat trick. Other Bobcats with three goals were junior Erin Flynn (Newton, N.J.) and rookies Liz Lawler (Dublin, N.H.) and Kathrene Tiffany (Boston, Mass.). Sophomore goalkeeper Maria Sparks (Marblehead, Mass.) made 11 saves in her first start since March 31. For Babson, senior Katie Matthews (Melvin Village, N.H.) had a game-high five goals, while junior Laura Hayes (Troy, N.Y.) added three goals.
