BATES BOMBS EMMANUEL, 82-46

The Bates College women's basketball team (5-0) shot a season-high 47 percent from the floor en route to a 82-46 win over the visiting Emmanuel College Saints (2-4).

Bates shot 57.5 percent from the floor in the first half, taking a 52-25 lead into the break. Junior forward Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) had 11 points before the intermission to lead all scorers. The Bobcats opened the second half with a 13-1 run to put the Saints away for good.

King, senior forward Amy Taylor (Orono) and junior guard Jolene Thurston (Post Mills, Vt.) each had 16 points to lead all scorers. Sophomore center Katy Dutille (Lebanon, N.H.) had a game-high 11 rebounds. For the fifth straight game, the Bobcats forced more than 30 turnovers with 36.

Emmanuel was led by first-year guards Marcy Tillman (Signaw, Mich.), who had 12 points, and Brianne Bogano (Canton, Mass.) with 11 points.
