BATES WOMEN DEFEAT COLBY, 86-69

The Bates College Bobcats had nine players in the scoring column, using their depth to outlast Colby. Bates jumped out to a 51-45 lead at the half. After shooting 65% (15-23) in the first half, Colby shot 22% (9-40) in the second, at one point going eight minutes without a basket.

Five different Bates players scored in double figures, led by sophomore center Katy Dutille's (Lebanon, N.H.) career high of 27 points. Junior forward Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) scored 17 points, and sophomore Kate McLaughlin (Laconia, N.H.) netted 12 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Rounding out the double-digit scorers were junior Jolene Thurston (Post Mills, Vt.) with 11 points, and senior point guard Colleen McCrave (Walpole, Mass.) who added 10 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and five steals.

Colby (6-4) was led by first-year forward Katie Lawson (Southwest Harbor, Maine) with 21 points, going 13 for 15 from the foul line. Junior guard Erin Cole-Karagory (Caribou, Maine) added 14 points for the White Mules.

Bates (10-0) has been ranked No. 1 by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) for the last three weeks. With the victory Bates extends its win streak to 10 games.
