BATES HANDLES CONNECTICUT COLLEGE IN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, 97-56

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Bates raced out to a 12-0 lead four minutes into the game and never looked back in defeating Connecticut College 97-56 this evening at the Charles B. Luce Field House.

The Bobcats, 16-3 and ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III Northeast rankings, had five players in double figures led by first-year guard Marcy Grossman (Eastsound, Wash.) who scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.

Junior forward Kate McLaughlin (Laconia, N.H.) added 15 points; 13 of which came in the first half as Bates took a 52-28 lead at the half. Bates forced 16 first half Connecticut College turnovers and 31 on the night.

Senior forward Emily King and first-year F/G Carla Flaherty (Gorham, Maine) each scored 15 points for Bates who won its fourth in a row. King is now 25 points from becoming Bates' all-time leading scorer.

Senior guard Hope Maynard had a game-high 19 points for Connecticut College (3-15) while sophomore Kacie Kennedy added 10 points and seven rebounds. Click here for Full Box Score
