FARMINGTON, Maine – The Bates College volleyball team went over the .500 mark for the first time this season in dominating fashion, defeating the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers in three straight games. The Bobcats recorded two-thirds of their points in the game on service aces, recording 30 aces in the match, while allowing UMF to score just seven points on their serve. First-year player Katie Burke (Canton, Mass.) led the way with nine aces. Senior captain Carly Dell'Ova (Derry, N.H.) added eight aces, while classmate and fellow captain Amanda Colby (Willimantic, Conn.) added five. Sophomore Lauren Fennessey (Joplin, Mo.) had six and junior setter Kate Hagstrom (Portola, Calif.), who was second in the nation last season in service aces per game last season, rounded out the barrage with two aces. Bates hosts four other teams in the Bates Round Robin tournament this coming weekend.
