BATES SWEEPS AT NESCAC QUAD, JOINS FOUR-WAY TIE ATOP NESCAC

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- With a 3-0 record at the final NESCAC Round Robin meet of the year, the Bates College volleyball team (21-5, 8-2 NESCAC) clinched a spot with three others atop the New England Small College Athletic Conference standings.

The Bobcats began the weekend with a 3-1 win over Trinity before cruising to victory, 3-0, against the hosts, Connecticut College. The Bobcats' final match of the day against was the toughest. After falling behind, two games to one, including a 15-2 setback in Game Three, Bates rallied for wins of 15-6 in Game Four and 15-7 in the rally-scoring Game Five.

Bates ends the round-robin portion of NESCAC play with an 8-2 record, the same as Amherst, Middlebury and Williams. The first and last of the two both entered the weekend tied atop the conference standings at 7-0 before going 1-2 this weekend, while Middlebury won three in a row on its home court.
