BATES TRACK TO HOST YULETIDE DASH FOR HUNGER 

WHAT:	Yuletide Dash for Hunger
WHERE:	Bates College Walter Slovenski Indoor Track
WHEN:	Friday, December 10
	Registration at 4:30 p.m., races at 5 p.m.
LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College track and field teams will host the second annual Yuletide Dash For Hunger. The race, for children 12 years and under, will be held at the Walter Slovenski Indoor Track on Friday, December 11. Registration will be held betweeen 4:45 and 5 p.m. on Friday. The event is open to all boys and girls, with ribbons being awarded to all participants. After a 15-minute warmup with members of the Bates College Track team and the Bates Bobcat, the races will begin at 5:15 p.m. The races will be contested in five different age groups. For entry into the event, participants should bring a canned good or non-perishable food item. Food collected will be distributed by the Rural Community Action Ministry to one of the several families adopted by Bates College for the holiday season.

The race is also being held in conjunction with the Bates pentathlon, in which competitors from Bates, the University of Southern Maine and Bowdoin College will compete in five events starting at 3 p.m.
