FREEMAN, TWIEST EARN ALL-AMERICA FOR BATES MENŐS X-COUNTRY;
WOMEN FINISH 15TH IN STRONG FIELD
BOSTON, Mass. -- Nine Bates College cross country runners participated in
today's NCAA Division III championship meet hosted by MIT at Franklin Park
in Boston. The women's team finished 15th out of 21 teams in the
competition. 184 runners participated in the 3.1-mile race.

For the men, senior Justin Freeman and sophomore Matt Twiest finished
eighth and ninth, repsectively, with times of 25:33 and 25:37. Twiest and
Freeman earn first-team All-America honors for their efforts, the two best
finishes in Bates men's cross country history. They are the first Bates
men to be named All-American in cross country since 1987.
