SCHALL NAMED NESCAC FIELD HOCKEY CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LEWISTON, Maine -- Junior forward Amanda Schall of Chevy Chase,
Md., has been named Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week by the New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
Schall scored two goals and had an assist in Bates' 2-0 week. She
had the game-winning goal with under two minutes to play in a 4-3 win over
New England College on Oct. 20. Schall also assisted the Bobcats' first
goal in that game. In the Bobcats' 1-0 win over in-state rival Colby
College on Oct. 25, Schall notched the game-winner with 6:47 remaining,
winning a battle for the ball in front of the White Mules' goal.
Schall leads the team with eight goals and four assists for 20
points. All of her goals have come in the last five games, of which Bates
has won four. Schall has scored at least once in each game, beginning with
an overtime goal against Maine Farmington on Oct. 8. Against Elms College
on Oct. 13, Schall scored a career-high four goals in a 6-0 win. She also
scored the team's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Connecticut College.
The Bobcats have a chance to clinch the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB)
Conference title with a win over Bowdoin Nov. 1.
"Amanda's play has been inspired over the last five games," head
coach Stacey Watts said. "Hopefully she and the rest of the team can
continue to play well to earn a postseason berth."
Schall is a 1995 graduate of the Madeira School.
