BATES FORWARDS SHARE NESCAC WOMEN'S SOCCER HONORS
LEWISTON, Maine -- Junior forward Colleen McCrave of Walpole, Mass., and sophomore forward Kate O'Malley of Deephaven, Minn., have been named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer Co-Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 22.
McCrave and O'Malley combined for four goals and three assists for 11 points in the Bobcats' wins at Wellesley on Sept. 17 and at home against Trinity on Sept. 20. In the 1-0 win over Wellesley, the No. 9 team in New England at the time, O'Malley knocked home a perfect cross pass from McCrave fifteen minutes into the second half.
Against Trinity, O'Malley assisted Bates' first goal of the game and scored the second, both in the last five minutes of the first half. McCrave added two goals early in the second half, each less than two minutes apart. The Bobcats' record is now 3-2.
O'Malley and McCrave are the top two scorers on the team, with 11 and six points, respectively. O'Malley now has 54 career points, seventh on Bates' all-time scoring list. McCrave has 38 career points, ninth-best in school history.
"After playing together for two years, Kate and Colleen read each other and complement each other unbelievably well," head coach Jim Murphy said of the tandem.
