LIVELY, LEAR NAMED TO EAST-WEST LACROSSE ALL-STAR GAME
Lively, an attack, was the Bobcats' leading scorer this season with 71 points. He scored 28 goals, second on the team. His 43 assists this season established a new Bates single-season record. Lively also set school single game marks with 10 assists and 13 points against the University of New England March 30.
Lear, a defender, scored his first career point this season, when he had an assist against Tufts University. He started every game for the Bobcats after missing the 1997 season taking a year abroad. The Bates defense held their opponents under ten goals a game this season.
The Bobcats finished the season at 8-7, ranked thirteenth in New England. This marked the third straight season Bates was ranked in the top 15 in the region at the end of the season.
Players from NCAA divisions I, II and III are selected to play in the East-West All-Star game. The teams are selected by NEILA coaches.
