Windsor, Conn.) held back to pace his teammates, the Bobcats placed fourth of more than 20 teams at the Babson Invitational, site of the 1998 NCAA Regional Qualifying race. Junior All-American Matt Twiest (Albuquerque, N.M.) placed fourth, in 25:59, his best finish of the season to date. Danahy led a pack of Bobcats, finishing 21st in 27:00, just ahead of junior Steve Dutton (Londonderry, N.H.), who was 23rd in 27:04, first-year Andrew Gruel (Bridgewater, N.J.), 26th in 27:07, and sophomore Chris Lupo (Portsmouth, R.I.), who was 27th in 27:08.
With juniors John McGrath (Merrimack, N.H.) and Brendan
Hahesy (Melrose, Mass.) placing 35th and 37th, the Bobcats were the
first team to finish their fifth, sixth and seventh runners. Senior
captain John Cullinan (Yonkers, N.Y.) placed 40th in 27:39, just
out of Bates' scoring.
