GRAFTON, Mass. -- In their annual tri-meet with national powers MIT and Tufts, the Bates College men's cross country team took third place against the No. 7 Engineers and No. 12 Jumbos. The Bobcats were ranked 24th in the nation entering the meet.

Sophomore Justin Easter (Jay, Maine) was the Bobcats top performer for the second week in a row, improving his time on Tufts' Grafton, Mass. course with a time of 26:46, shaving 20 seconds off his previous best at the course. Sophomore Malcolm Gray (Bronxville, N.J.) led the Bobcats' next group, who finished in a 45 second pack. Gray took 14th with a time of 28:13, while senior Steve Mague (Londonderry, N.H.) improved his time from a week ago by nearly two full minutes, finishing in 16th place with a time of 28:28.
