BATES PLACES THIRD AT QUAD CUP III
BOSTON, Mass. - The Bates College Men's Track and Field Team ran into some stiff competition this weekend, placing third in Quad Cup III with 82.5 points behind Williams (256) and MIT (210.5) and ahead of WPI (41).
Junior Lucas Adams (Nottingham, N.H.) led the team in scoring, winning the 35-pound weight throw, ahead of WPI's Mike Pockoski, the top ranked thrower in the nation, and taking third place in the shot put. Senior Peter Beeson (Novelty, Ohio) recorded Bates only other first place, capturing the pole vault. Beeson equaled his lifetime best of 14 feet and nearly set a new personal record of 14 feet, six inches. Beeson did qualify for the Open New England Championships.
