Tufts Co-ed Invitational BOBCATS TAKE THIRD AT TUFTS CO-ED INVITE MEDFORD, Mass. In one of the largest fields the Bobcats will see before the championship season, the men's track and field team took third of 13 teams at the Tufts Co-Ed Invitational. The Bobcats had two winners and a handful of other top-three finishes. Senior Jaime Sawler (Stratham, N.H.) remained undefeated in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 57 feet, 1.5 inches. Classmate Jesse Carney (Brunswick, Maine) had his best career finish in the weight throw, placing second with a heave of 48-0.75. Bates' other winner was junior Matt Ondra (New Tripoli, Pa.), who won the pole vault with a leap of 13-3. Two Bobcats finished second in running events, junior Steven Gresham (Milton, Mass.) in the 500-meter dash and first-year Michael Downing (Gorham, Maine) in the 1,500. First-year classmates Joel Anderson (New Brighton, Minn.) and Andruis Staisiunas (Pasznevys, Lithuania) each took third place in the 5,000 and 800, respectively.
