MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK TAKES SECOND AT STATES
Seven Indivudal Champions, Easter Returns To Nationals

WATERVILLE, Maine — Five different Bobcats took home seven individual titles as the Bates College men's track and field team placed second at the State of Maine outdoor championships at Colby.

The Bobcats had a pair of multiple winners. Senior Erik Zwick (Virginia Beach, Va.) won a pair of sprint events, the 100- and 200-meter dashes, with times of 11.01 seconds and 22.09 seconds repsectively. Junior Jaime Sawler (Stratham, N.H.) remained undefeated this season in the hammer throw with a season-best heave of 186-9.5, raking him second in the nation. Sawler also picked up his first win of the season in the discus with a toss of 134-8.

Sophomore Justin Easter (Jay, Maine) is headed for his sixth NCAA championship, winning the steeplechase with a provisional qualifying time of 9:17.33, third best in the nation to date. The Bobcats' other winners were sophomore Malcolm Gray (Bronxville, N.Y.) in the 5,000-meter run and first-year Matt Ondra (New Tripoli, Pa.) who took the pole vault with a leap of 13-1.
