NEW LONDON, Conn. - Playing without two of their top three players, the Bates College men's tennis team (0-2) dropped a close match to the host Connecticut College Camels (4-4), 4-3.

While the Bobcats dropped the top three spots, including a tough three-set match at No. 2 by first-year player Ben Lamanna (Barrington, R.I.), the Bobcats showed impressive depth, with sophomores Chris Danforth (Belle Meade, N.J.) and Nick Bournakel (Lewiston, Maine/Hebron Acad.), stepping in at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively, each rebounding to win after dropping the first set.

The Bobcats take on the U.S. Coast Guard Academy tomorrow in New London.
