Bates College men's soccer (2-2) picked up their first NESCAC win of the season with a 1-0 win at Tufts (4-2), the eighth-ranked team in New England.

After a scoreless first half, the Bobcats broke the tie in the 58th minute when junior forward Ted Martin (Excelsior, Minn.) made a beautiful cross to sophomore Walter Shicko (Rocky Hill, Conn.), who headed home his first career goal. Senior goalkeeper Brian Anton made seven saves for his third career shutout.

This was the Bobcats' second straight win over the Jumbos after having not beaten them since 1986.
