BATES MEN'S SOCCER OVERCOMES WILD START TO TOP HUSSON, 4-2

The men's soccer game between Bates (4-3) and Husson (9-3-1) got off to a quick start before the Bobcats settled down for a 4-2 win in Bangor.

Husson got on the board with their first shot on goal one minute into the game. Bates answered 57 seconds later, when senior Stephen Coco (Auburn, N.H.) scored on an assist from first-year forward Drew Weymouth (Holden, Mass.). Weymouth picked up his second assist of the game and fourth in the last three games in the seventh minute when senior tri-captain Eric Trickett (Windham, N.H.) headed home his first goal of the season.

The Braves evened the score in the 24th minute, but Bates took the lead for good with just under five minutes to go in the first half when Trickett scored his second goal of the game on an assist from sophomore midfielder Chris Sporcic (Stratham, N.H.). It was Trickett's second career two-goal game.

The Bobcats scored an insurance goal in the second half when junior Andy Apstein (Waban, Mass.) scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
