CONNECTICUT COLLEGE TOPS BATES, 2-1

The Connecticut College men's soccer team (6-4-1) took advantage of their chances, scoring on two of their six shots to defeat the Bates College Bobcats (6-4), 2-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Camels got on the board in the 52nd minute on a perfect direct kick to the far side of the Bobcat goal. They added another goal in the 69th minute, heading home a crossing pass.

The Bobcats cut the lead to one when senior tri-captain Eric Trickett (Windham, N.H.) beat the Camel goalkeeper to the ball outside the box and tapped it past him. Bates had several opportunities late in the game, but were turned away, including a blast just as time expired.

Bates keeper Brian Anton (Boca Raton, Fla.) had three saves. The Camels are tied for 10th in the most recent NSCAA Metro region poll, whiile the Bobcats are tied for ninth in the New England region.
