NO. 24 MEN'S SOCCER ROMPS PAST ST. JOSEPH'S, 9-0
WINDHAM, Maine -- The Bates College men's soccer team (3-0) did not suffer a potential let-down after their 2-1 win over Amherst and No. 24 national ranking, downing the host St. Joseph's College Monks (3-2), 9-0 in Windham today.
The nine goals scored were the most ever by a Bates team over St. Joe's, and the Bobcats' biggest output since 1996. Junior midfielder Drew Weymouth (Holden, Mass.) and first-year forward Chris Urban each scored a pair of goals, while senior Chris Sporcic (Stratham, N.H.) and rookie midfielder Noah Sabich (Springfield, Ill.) each had two assists. Senior forward Alex Cutler (Worcester, Mass.) was the only player to tally both a goal and an assist.
Junior goalkeeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) was untested in goal in the first half, while first-year Chris Mansfield (Lincoln, Mass.) made three saves in the second stanza in his collegiate debut.
