NO. 24 MEN's SOCCER FALLS TO PLYMOUTH STATE, 2-0

PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Playing their first night game of the season, the Bates College men's soccer team (3-2) dropped a 2-0 decision to host Plymouth State College. The Bobcats were ranked third in New England and 24th in the nation entering the game, while the Panthers (6-2) were No. 8 in New England.

PSC got off to a quick start, as sophomore Sal Friello (W. Haven, Conn.) headed home a corner kick just 1:04 into the contest. The Panthers added an insurance goal midway through the second half when senior Jeremy Gasowski (Lee, N.H.) scored from 15 yards out. The Bobcat offense could not find an answer, managing just four shots.

Bates junior goalkeeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) made four saves in the losing effort, while Plymouth State's Brad Wilby (Haddonfield, N.J.) had three stops for the shutout.

The Bobcats are next in action against NESCAC foe Tufts on Sunday, while Plymouth State hosts Little East rival Keene State on Saturday.
