BATES, NO. 11 BOWDOIN PLAY TO SCORELESS DRAW

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- After 120 minutes of play, the Bates College Bobcats (6-6-1, 2-5-1 NESCAC) and Bowdoin College Polar Bears (10-1-1, 6-1-1) came out even, playing to a scoreless draw. Bowdoin entered the game ranked second in New England and 11th in the nation in the most recent NSCAA Division III poll.

The Polar Bears owned a 13-10 advantage in shots and 8-3 lead in corner kicks, but the Bobcat defenders and junior goalkeeper Dan Spector (Framingham, Mass.) were able to keep Bowdoin off the board for the team's fifth shutout of the season. The scoreles tie was Bates' first since drawing with Tufts last season. Bates and Bowdoin will tie for the 2000 CBB title if the Bobcats can topple Colby on Saturday. A win would also be crucial for Bates' postseason chances.
