Bates 24, UNE 2
The Bates College men's lacrosse team (3-1) added a new page to the record
books in a 24-2 whitewashing of the University of New England (0-3). The
Bobcats tied school records for goals (24) and assists (17) in a game, set
six years ago against Curry and Merrimack, respectively. Senior attack Jay
Lively (North Falmouth, Mass.) set new single-game marks
with 10 assists and 13 points. The previous highs were eight
assists, set in 1992 against Wheaton College by Jim Hamilton '83, and 12
points (7 goals, 5 assists) set by Davis Scheetz '82 against Norwich
University in 1980. Sophomore attack Mike D'Addario (Locust
Vally, N.Y.) scored eight goals, one shy of the single-game record and
raising his team-leading total to 20. The Bobcats dominated the game,
allowing the Nor'easters just five shots on goal. In the past two games,
Bates has outscored its opponents 42-7.
