Bates College Sports

Bates 23, Plymouth State 7

The Bobcats (8-6) scored the final 12 goals of the game en route to their second highest offensive output of the season, a 23-7 pounding of Plymouth State College (8-5). Five Bates players had at least three goals, led by senior Jay Lively (North Falmouth, Mass.), who just missed his third 10-point game of the season with five goals and four assists. His season assist total of 41 establishes a new single-season record, surpassing that of Shane Kokoruda '95, set in 1992.

Bates jumped out to an 11-3 lead at the end of the first half. After the Panthers responded with the first four goals after intermission, coach Al Brown called time out to settle the team down. The Bobcats responded by holding PSC scoreless the rest of the way while.

Leading goal scorer Mike D'Addario added four goals, while first-year Aaron Sells (Brookline, Mass.) had four goals and two assists. Junior attack Mike Apfelbaum (Harrisburg, Pa.) and first-year Dyman Cruess (Concord, N.H.) rounded out Bates' multiple scorers with three goals each. Sophomore goalkeeper Jason Beyer (Peekskill, N.Y.) had his second-best save tally of the season, stopping 20 Panther shots.
