New England College 13, Bates 9

The New England College Pilgrims (9-4) snapped a four-game losing streak to the Bates College Bobcats (7-6) in men's lacrosse, picking up a 13-9 win on a sloppy Garcelon Field in the pouring rain.

NEC got on the board first in the opening moments of the game on a goal by sophomore Brent Thomas (Longmeadow, Mass.), but Bates first-year midfielder Brad Wilson (Woodbury, N.J.) answered with two quick goals as Bates opened up a 4-1 lead just 2:30 into the second period. The Pilgrims scored the final four goals of the first half to take a 5-4 lead into halftime. New England outscored Bates 5-2 in the third period to establish a 10-6 lead on sophomore Kurt Balak's (Tyringham, Mass.) second goal of the quarter. Bates got three goals from leading scorer sophomore attack Mike D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.), but could not recover.

New England College goalkeeper Matt Jones (Woodstock, Vt.) made 14 saves in the win, while Bobcats sophomores Dirk Huntington (Falls Church, Va.) and Jason Beyer (Peekskill, N.Y.) combined for 13. D'Addario led all scorers with four goals and an assist for five points, while NEC's Thomas had four goals also.
