Bowdoin 13, Bates 3

Bowdoin College senior Josh Reitzas (Boston, Mass.) scored four goals and seven other Polar Bears tallied at least one goal, helping Bowdoin defeat Bates on Thursday, 13-3. Bowdoin held senior Jay Lively (No. Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Mike D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.) - the NESCAC's third and fourth leading scorers, respectively - from recording any points.

Bowdoin (7-5) started the scoring four and opened up a 3-0 lead. Bates (7-5) answered as sophomore Brad Wilson (Woodbury, N.J.) scored a goal at the end of the first and first-year midfielder Aaron Sells (Brookline, Mass.) opened up the second with one of his own to cut the margin to 4-2, but that would be as close as the Bobcats would get. Bowdoin rattled off seven straight goals over the next two periods to take a 10-2 lead.

Sells was the high scorer for Bates with two goals. The sophomore goalkeeping trio of Jason Beyer (Peekskill, N.Y.), Dirk Huntington (Falls Church, Va.), and David Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.) combined to make 12 saves for the Bobcats.
