MIDDLEBURY TOPS BATES, 20-3 MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury College men's lacrosse team ended its regular season with a 20-3 thumping of Bates. The Panthers are ranked sixth in the latest Division III national poll, and will await an NCAA bid on Sunday, May 9th. Middlebury came out firing, taking an 11-0 halftime lead. The lead incresed to 13-0 before the Bobcats netted three straight goals to cut the lead to 13-3 with 4:11 left in the third quarter. The Panthers then added seven more goals to seal the 20-3 win. Holt Hopkins, Jon-Erik Borgen, and Peter Albro led the Panthers with three goals each, as 12 different Panthers scored. Dave Campbell and Patrick O'Reilly combined to make 11 saves for Middlebury, while Dirk Huntington (Falls Church, Va.) made 16 saves in the Bobcats' net. Middlebury 20, Bates 3 at Middlebury, Vt.
