BATES MEN'S LAX ROMPS OVER GORDON, 20-7 LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College men's lacrosse team (9-6) concluded their 1999 season with a bang, downing the Gordon College Scots (6-8), 20-7 at Garcelon Field today. The Bobcats were led in scoring by first-year attacker Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.), who notched seven points (six goals and one assist) to match his career high. Sophomore midfielder Aaron Sells (Brookline, Mass.) contributed three goals, while classmate and linemate Dylan Cruess (Concord, N.H.) had two goals and two assists. Senior Ben Guardenier (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) had a pair of goals in his final game in a Bobcat uniform. The junior goalkeeping tandem of Dirk Huntington (Falls Church, Va.) and Dave Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.) combined for 13 saves in net. Gordon was led by sophomore attack Tim Chapman (Sewickley, Pa.), who had four points on two goals and two assists, and juniors Culley Parris (E. Falmouth, Mass.) and Drew Dixon (Waltham, Mass.), who had two goals apiece. Sophomore goalie Chad Huntley (Woodland, Calif.) made 21 saves.
