BOBCATS TAKE SECOND PLACE AT DREW INVITATIONAL MADISON, N.J. -- The Bates College men's lacrosse team (3-2) took second place in the Drew University Invitational today, dropping the title game to the host Drew Rangers, 14-9. Drew came out firing, scoring the first two goals of the game. The Bobcats broke the ice with a goal from sophomore midfielder Aaron Sells (Brookline, Mass.) at the 10:03 mark, but the Rangers scored the next six goals. Junior Jon Miller (Canton, Mass.) broke the string with a goal with 2:21 left in the half as the Bobcats trailed 9-3 before intermission. Bates won the second half, 6-5, with junior David Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.) playing well, stopping 11 of the 16 shots he faced. Four Bobcats were named to the All-Tournament team. First-year player Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.) was named an All-Tourney attack, while junior Peter Fell (Chappaqua, N.Y.) earned All-Tournament defense honors. Bates comprised two-third of the All-Tournament midfield with the sophomore tandem of Sells and Dylan Cruess (Concord, N.H.).
