Bates 20, Wentworth 5 BATES LAX WINS LASAGNA'S HOME DEBUT, 20-5, OVER WENTWORTH LEWISTON, Maine The Bates College men's lacrosse team opened the New England portion of their schedule with a 20-5 win over nonconference foe Wentworth Institute of Technology today, giving new head coach Peter Lasagna his first win at the helm of the Bobcats. Bates (1-1) opened strongly, taking a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and keeping the Leopards off the board in the second to open a 13-1 margin at halftime. The Bobcats were led by twp players with five points: junior attack Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.), who tallied five goals, and sophomore Jeff Critchlow (Carlisle, Mass.), who registered three goals and two assists. Junior Dave Frederick (West Hartford, Conn.) had a game-high four assists. Bates sophomore Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) made seven saves in 45 minutes of play, while rookie Peter Lovelace (Etna, N.H.) made three stops in the fourth period.
