Trinity 14, Bates 13 BOBCATS PLAY SECOND STRAIGHT OT GAME, FALL TO TRINITY, 14-13 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Trinity College first-year attack David Huoppi (Pomfret, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal as time expired in overtime to give the Bantams a dramatic 14-13 win over the Bates College Bobcats at Harvard University on Wednesday. Bates (5-6, 2-5 NESCAC) led for most of regulation, jumping out to a 6-4 lead after one period and maintaining a two-goal cushion until halftime, 9-7. Trinity (6-6, 4-4 NESCAC) cut the lead by one in the third period, 12-11. The Bantams took their first lead of the contest on a goal by senior Mark Tassie (Hopewell, N.J.), but Bates junior Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.) retied the contest just 27 seconds later. Bates held possession for most of the overtime period, but first-yeat Trinity keeper Geoff Shaw (Charlotte, N.C.), who came off the bench at the start of the second period, made three of his 13 saves to keep the Bantams alive for Huoppi's game-winner. Tassie led all players with six goals and an assist for seven points. Bates junior Patrick Gaughan (Duxbury, Mass.) had a career-high five goals for the Bobcats.
