LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College men's lacrosse team ended their regular season with their highest scoring output of the campaign with a 25-11 victory over the Wheaton College Lyons on Garcelon Field.

After a tight first quarter that ended with Bates leading, 4-3, the Bobcats put the contest away in the second, scoring 10 goals to Wheaton's four. The 10 goals in a period was Bates' season-high. Junior midfielder Aaron Sells (Brookline, Mass.) led the way for the Bobcats with six goals, his highest output of the season. Sophomore attack Dave Frederick (Hartford, Conn.) had game-high honors with six assists, one shy of his season-best. Frederick also tallied two goals for eight points on the day. Classmates Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Matt Winterle (Duxbury, Mass.) each posted hat tricks as the Bobcats ended their regular season at 9-6. Bates will learn its post-season fate on Monday Goalkeepers David Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.) and Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) combined for 12 saves in the win.

Wheaton (3-11) was led by rookie Tyler Hallam (So. Burlington, Vt.), who had two goals and an assist, and classmate Zach Hurd (Bath, Maine), who notched a goal and an assist.
