Wesleyan 13, Bates 10 LATE RALLY LIFTS WESLEYAN PAST BATES, 13-10 LEWISTON, Maine -- In a tight New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse contest, the Wesleyan University Cardinals (5-1, 1-0 NESCAC) scored the last four goals of the game to defeat the host Bates College Bobcats (6-2, 0-2 NESCAC), 13-10. Both the first and second quarters ended with the game tied, as neither team went ahead by more than two goals in the first half. Bates led 3-1 after six minutes thanks to two goals and an assist by senior Mike D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.). Wesleyan rallied to tie the game and took a 6-4 edge midway through the second quarter as junior John Landay (Baltimore, Md.) had a goal and an assist 32 seconds apart. The Cardinals looked to take an 8-7 lead into halftime before sophomore Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored an extra-man goal with 40 seconds left to tie the game at seven. Landay scored the first goal in the opening five minutes of the second half, but D'Addario and sophomore Dave Frederick (Hartford, Conn.) scored in the span of 30 seconds around the six-minute mark to give Bates a 9-8 lead headed into the final period. After trading goals in the first five minutes of the fourth period, Wesleyan opened the lead on two more goals and an assist by Landay, the last coming with 5:38 remaining that established the largest lead of the game as well as the final score. Landay led all scorers with four goals and four assists, while D'Addario and Wesleyan attack Andrew Rotando (Boston, Mass.) each had a game-high five goals.
