BATES MEN'S LACROSSE SNAPS TWO-GAME SKID, 12-5, OVER SWARTHMORE

Kingston, N.Y. -- The Bates College men's lacrosse team used a five-goal second period to secure a 12-5 non-conference win over Swarthmore College in a neutral site game at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, N.Y. today.

Senior attack Mike D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.) scored two goals, moving him into a tie for first place on Bates' career goal-scoring list with 158. He is tied with Shane Kokoruda '95. The Bobcats (7-3) were led by sophomore Jack Sandler (Hicksville, N.Y.), who scored four goals, the sixth time in 11 games he has scored that many. Classmate Dave Frederick (Hartford, Conn.) had two goals and four assists for a game-high six points, while first-year midfielder Jeff Critchlow (Carlisle, Mass.) also had two goals.

Swarthmore (6-2) junior attack Mark Dingfield (Seattle, Wash.), had two goals and an assist for the Garnet, while first-year Patrick Friel (Linthicum, Md.) had two goals.

Bates senior David Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.) made 10 saves in the winning effort, while Swarthmore's Syg Rydquist (Hudson, Ohio)had 15 stops in the losing effort. Bates snapped a two-game losing streak, while handing the Garnet their second loss in a row after they won their first six games of the season.
