LEWISTON, Maine -- Eleven different Middlebury College men's lacrosse players scored goals as the visiting Panthers (10-1) defeated the host Bates College Bobcats (8-6) on Garcelon Field, 16-5.

The game was tied after 10 minutes thanks to Bates goals by senior Mike D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.) and sophomore Dave Frederick (Hartford, Conn.). Middlebury scored the next 11 goals of the contest, holding the Bobcats scoreless in second period en route to an 11-2 lead at the break. Panther sophomore David Seeley (Wayland, Mass.) scored all of his team-high three goals in the first half.

Middlebury sophomore attack Zach Herbert (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led all scorers with two goals and three assists for five points, while Seeley and Bates' D'Addario each had three goals in the game. Panther junior attack Holt Hopkins (Baltimore, Md.) had a goal and an assist, giving him 96 goals for his career. Bates goalkeeper Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) made nine saves in relief of senior David Pillsbury (Gill, Mass.), while Panther senior Dave Campbell (Norwalk, Conn.) had 10 stops in 45 minutes of action.

Bates concludes its regular season against Wheaton College at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, while Middlebury travels to Colby to end its regular-season campaign tomorrow at noon.
