BOBCATS FALL TO NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE, 75-71

HENNIKER, N.H. -- The Bates College men's basketball team (6-12) dropped another close game on the road, falling to New England College (7-13) here tonight, 75-71.

Neither team was able to get much of an advantage in the first half and the contest was tied, 37-37, at the break. Trailing by two with under a minute to go, the Bobcats had a chance to tie the game at the line, but hit just one of two free throws. After fouling the Pilgrims at the other end, Bates was unable to get a good look at a tying 3-pointer.

Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) and Ed Walker (Roxbury, Mass.) were the team's top two scorers for the fifth straight game, scoring 21 and 20 points respectively. First-year forward C.J. Neely (No. Easton, Mass.) was the only other Bobcat in double figures with 11 points on five-of-six shooting from the floor. Junior forward Rommel Padonou (Libreville, Gabon) had 10 rebounds to lead all players. NEC was led by Khalid Worthy and Dennis Dube with 19 points each.
