Bowdoin 67, Bates 61 BOWDOIN HOLDS OFF BATES, 67-61 (Taken from a Bowdoin College press release) BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year Danny Ginn (Windham, Maine) scored 13 points in 12 minutes of action coming off the bench to spark the Polar Bears to a 67-61 victory over Bates College on Wednesday evening. With the victory, Bowdoin (6-1) wins its eighth-straight game against Bates (3-4). Playing even for most of the first half, the Polar Bears went on a 13-4 run to end the half and take a 33-24 lead into intermission. Junior David Baranowski (Amherst, N.H.) led the Bowdoin charge with 14 of his team-high 16 points in the first frame, as well as five of his eight blocked shots on the evening. Trailing 39-31 with 15:15 remaining the in the contest, Alex Wilson (Duxbury, Mass.) scored seven of his game-high 17 points in a 14-5 run by the Bobcats to take their first lead since the first minute of play, 45-44. Ginn then hit three-straight jumpers, including a pretty half hook, to give the Polar Bears a 50-48 lead that they would never lose with 9:12 left in the game. Bates did make it tight down the stretch, cutting the lead to 62-61 with 57 ticks left, but Hugh Coleman (Boston, Mass.) made four straight free throws in the waning seconds to ice the victory. Joining Wilson in double figures for the Bobcats was Rommel Padonou (Libreville, Gabon) with 12 points and eight rebounds. Coleman added 12 in the winning effort.
