Terrier Invitational at Samoset Golf Course, Sept. 11 - The Bobcats finished fourth of eight teams, as sophomore Nick Brunero (West Warwick, R.I.) took third place.

Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury, Sept. 13-14 - The Bobcats finished in the middle of the pack at one of the biggest tournaments of the season, the Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury, Vt. Their score of 658 was good for 15th place, just three strokes out of 11th place. Senior captain Tim Sargent (Morrisville, Vt.) was the top finisher, tying for 18th place with a score of 156, ten strokes behind the leader.

Southern Maine Tournament at Gorham C.C., Sept. 18 - The golf team finished in a three-way tie for second, just three strokes behind St. Joseph's at the Southern Maine Invitational at Gorham Country Club. Senior Matt Delehanty (Larchmont, N.Y.) was the Bobcats' top scorer, placing second while shooting an 80. First-year golfer Percy Stith (Brighton, Mass.) had his first top-ten performance of the season, shooting an 85, tying him for eighth place.

Bowdoin Invitational at Brunswick G.C., Sept. 21-22 - The Bobcats had an outstanding opening day at the Brunswick Golf Club, firing a team score of 348, putting them just five strokes off the lead. Senior captain Tim Sargent (Morrisville, Vt.) led the way, shooting an 84, tying him for second place after one round. Sophomore Jeff Snyder (Glastonbury, Conn.) and junior Peter Coleman (St. Davids, Pa.), who shot 86 and 87 respectively on Sunday, joined Sargent as one of only three sets of teammates to shoot sub-90 rounds on the opening day. Unfortuantely, Monday's results were not as forgiving, and the Bobcats droped five places in the standings. Sargent's 176 overall score tied him for 11th place, while Coleman's 179 was good for 14th.

Maine State Intercollegiate Championships at Portland, Sept. 26 - The Bobcats got an outstanding performance from first-year golfer Percy Stith (Brighton, Mass.), who shot his collegiate-low round of 80 to tie for fourth, six strokes back. Bates also got a nice performance from sophomore Jeff Snyder (Glastonbury, Conn.), who shot an 84. Coach Bob Flynn's team finished in ninth place with a composite score of 348.

NESCAC Invitational at Williams, Sept. 28 - In pleasant weather after the first day of the NESCAC chmapionships, the Bobcats were in a four-way tie for fifth place. When the weather turned nasty, however, Bates dropped five places, finishing in eighth place of ten teams. Sophomore Nick Brunero (West Warwick, R.I.) finished tied for 11th.

Southern Maine Invitational at Gorham G.C., Oct. 5 - Sophomore Nick Brunero (West Warwick, R.I.) had his first career win, shooting a one-under-par 70 to take medalist honors at the Southern Maine Invitational at Gorham Country Club. The Bobcats had their best team finish of the season as well, shooting a 307 and finishing one stroke behind Thomas College for the team title. Senior captain Tim Sargent (Morrisville, Vt.) tied for fifth place.

CBB Championships at Waterville G.C., Oct. 8 - The Bobcats were unsuccessful in their defense of the CBB crown, finishing 10 strokes behind Bowdoin. Three Bates golfers finished in a tie for third at 84, including senior captain Tim Sargent (Morrisville, Vt.), senior Peter LaCasse (Augusta, Maine) and sophomore Jeff Snyder (Glastonbury, Conn.), seven strokes behind the winner and six behind second place.
