BATES CAPTURES CBB GOLF TITLE

LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior Nick Brunero (West Warwick, R.I.) shot a three-over par 75, his best round of the season, as the Bates College Bobcats captured the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin golf championship for the first time since 1996.

Colby junior Ben Powell claimed the individual championship for the second straight year. Scott Bixby of the White Mules tied Brunero for second, but Bates sophomore Sam Kieley (Edina, Minn.) and junior David Vensel (Watertown, Conn.) each shot an 85, tying for fourth place with Bowdoin's top two finishers, sophomore Brian Shuman (So. Boston, Mass.) and sophomore Andy McNerny (Edina, Minn.).
