The Bobcats played well ain the first quarter but only had a Rejean Guerriero (Spofford, N.H.) field goal to show for three trips inside the Continental five-yard line. After Guerriero's 19-yard field goal put the Bobcats up, 3-0, just under nine minutes into the game, Bates drove deep into Hamilton territory, only to lose a pair of fumbles. Hamilton capitalized on poor Bates punts to score a TD and a field foal on short drives. After Continental kicker Greg Bemis connected on a 39-yard field goal with 3:37 left to go up 10-3, the Bobcats answered when junior quarterback Matt Bazrigan completed a pass over the middle to sophomore tight end Brian Mulready (Lewiston, Maine), who ran over and a around several tackles on his way to a 68-yard touchdown pass to even the score at 10 apiece. Hamilton missed an 18-yard field goal with 22 seconds left and the score was even at the break. Hamilton scored once in the third and early in the fourth to take a commanding 24-10 lead. The Bobcats bounced back hen junior tailback Ryan Jarvis (Boxford, Mass.) scored his team-leading fifth touchdown of the season on a 13-yard run with 3:56 left. The Bobcats held Hamilton on the next possession, but Bazirgan threw four straight incompletions to halt the comeback attempt. Bates wide receiver Jason Coulie (Manchester, N.H.) tied a school single game record with 12 receptions (133 yards), equaling Tim Spiro '97 and Larry DiGiammarino '82. Bazirgan completed 17 of 34 passes for a season-high 278 yards. Junior linebacker Frost Hubbard (E. Walpole, Mass.) made nine tackles (seven solo) and broke up five passes.
