The Bobcats (1-5) lost their third game of the season to a nationally-ranked opponent, dropping a 3-1 decision to Tufts (6-0)

Bates came out with all cylinders firing, putting pressure on the Jumbos in the first part of the game. After play leveled out, Tufts scored with just over 10 minutes left in the first to take the lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Peggy Ficks (Washington, Conn.) made nine first-half saves to keep the Bobcats close.

The Jumbos scored again 10 minutes into the second half, but junior forward Kate Orellana (Middlebury, Vt.) put home a pass from sophomore Sarah McGrath (Middlebury, Vt.) four minutes later. Senior goalkeeper Wendy Zimmerman went into goal at that point and made three saves in her first action of the season. The Jumbos scored in the final three minutes to ice the game.
