The Bates College Field hockey team (5-6) scored two goals three minutes apart in the first half and hung on to defeat Connecticut College (3-9), 2-0.

The Bobcats got on the board with 24 minutes remaining when junior Kim Holzer (Adams, Mass.) knocked a free hit into the circle, where sophomore Abby Lenhart (Bethesda, Md.) turned and scored. The Bobcats upped the score to 2-0 just under three minutes later at the 21:01 mark. Sophomore Sarah McGrath (Middlebury, Vt.) shot the ball. It was tipped by junior Kate Orellana (Middlebury, Vt.) to senior Amanda Schall (Chevy Chase, Md.), who scored her second goal of the season.

Bates goalie Peggy Ficks (Washington, Conn.) made six saves for her fourth shutout of the season. Camel goalkeeper Danielle LeBlanc (South Hadley, Mass.) made seven saves in the losing effort.
