BOBCATS WIN FOURTH IN A ROW, 2-1, OVER TUFTS

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College Field Hockey team (4-2) won its fourth game in a row in dramatic fashion, scoring twice in the final eight minutes of the game to pick up a 2-1 victory over the Tufts University Jumbos (1-5).

Tufts got on the board first when first-year player Dana Chivvis (New Canaan, Conn.) knocked home a pass from sophomore Christina Orf (Lexington, Mass.) just over 10 minutes into the second half. The Bobcats got the equalizer when senior Kim Holzer (Adams, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season on a penalty stroke. The Bobcats tallied the game winner with just 12 seconds left in regulation when Holzer found junior Abby Lenhart (Bethesda, Md.), who scored her first of the season.

Bates goalkeeper Peggy Ficks (Washington, Conn.) recorded three saves for her fourth win of the season, while Tufts' Dena Sloan (Milburn, N.J.) had seven stops in the losing effort.
