CONN. COLLEGE GAINS NESCAC BERTH
WITH 3-1 WIN OVER BATES

LEWISTON, Maine -- With a 3-1 win over the host Bates College Bobcats (2-11, 1-8 NESCAC), the visiting Connecticut College Camels (7-7, 4-5 NESCAC) wrapped up a berth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tournament tomorrow at Bowdoin College.

The Camels opened the scoring with 10 and a half minutes left in the first half on a goal by sophomore Emily Huffman (Oklahoma City, Okla.), with rookie Katie Roe (Bethesda, Md.) picking up the assist. Conn. College scored 69 seconds before the intermission when junior Christy Bassett (Nantucket, Mass.) punched home her third attempt to score on Bates keeper Lindsay Gary (Del Mar, Cal.). Huffman scored her third goal of the game late in the seconf half, while Bates junior Johie Farrar (W. Paris, Maine) spoiled the Camel keeper Anna Trafton's (Topsham, Maine) shutout bid with 10 minutes left in the contest on her team-leading 12 goal of the season.
