New England Championships
at Worcester, Mass.

WORCESTER, Mass. -- On Saturday, May 6th, Bates Varsity Crew competed in the New England Championships held in Worcester, Mass. The competition includes both Division I/II programs that do not give athletic scholarships. Three novice crews brought home the first medals earned in the history of Bates rowing, leading the way to an overall third place out of 26 teams. The men's and women's first novice boats finished their respective races in second place, while the second men's novice placed third. Both men's boats pulled solid, even races, while the novice women finished with an impressive sprint after a slow start. The three novice crews, along with the women's varsity crew, will advance to Championships, held on Sunday, May 14th in Worcester, Mass.
