BATES ROWING TAKES TWO MEDALS AT NEW HAMPSHIRE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Novice Boats Peform Well In First Race

HOOKSET, N.H. -- The Bates College rowing team kept up its strong fall season, taking home two medals from the New Hampshire Rowing Championships. The varsity men's eight-plus-cox boat took second in the open event, 11 seconds behind the winners from MIT and 18 seconds ahead of third-place Tufts. The men's second boat placed well, taking sixth place. The women's eight-plus took third in the open event, eight seconds ahead of Simmons College.

In their first action of the season, the three Bates novice boats each placed among the top five in their events, with the women's four-plus and men's eight-plus just missing medals in fourth place, while the women's novice eight-plus took fifth. The men's novice eight-plus boat fell out of the medals by just one second.
