Greensboro (N.C.) 8, Bates 3

The Bobcats wrapped up competition on their North Carolina trip with an 8-3 loss at Greensboro College. After getting on the board in the top of the first on an RBI double by senior outfielder Mike Voelker (Coventry, R.I.), the Bobcats gave up the next six runs. They clawed back into the game, cutting the lead in half with single runs in the seventh and eighth, but the Pride scored twice more in the bottom of the eighth to ice the win. Voelker had a perfect day at the plate, going two for two with a double, an RBI a run scored an two walks, while first-year infielder Christian Galligher (Mont Vernon, N.H.) had his first career home run, the Bobcats' fourth in the last two games. Bates will next take the field in late March at Curry College.
