Bates 6, Thomas 3
WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bates College baseball team (6-18) snapped a six-game losing streak today with a 6-3 victory over the Thomas College Terriers here today. Sophomore pitcher Kevin Walsh (Wakefield, Mass.) scattered seven hits over as many innings and allowed only three earned runs to get the win. Walsh had the benefit of a solid defensive performance by the double play combination of sophomores Christian Galligher (Mont Vernon, N.H.) and Pat Collins (Walpole, Mass.). The pair turned four double plays, one shy of the school record and two short of the NCAA division III record. Offensively, the Bobcats were led by sophomore outfielder Ben Bines (Lexington, Mass.), who went 3-5 with a double and two RBI's, and sophomore first baseman Matt Pound (Santa Fe, N.M.), who went 2-4 with two RBI's.
